Christopher Brewer Full Bio

Chris Brewer is one of the founding partners of Gardner Brewer Martinez-Monfort. His vision for starting the firm was to utilize his strong large firm experience to counsel clients who want the personalized attention and intimacy of a small firm. His practice primarily involves business and real estate transactions, given his experience in a wide range of sophisticated commercial business and real estate matters.

In his real estate practice, Chris represents developers, landlords and tenants in real estate development, financing, and leasing matters, as well as lenders and borrowers in financing and loan transactions. His areas of practice include all aspects of commercial, retail and residential acquisition and development projects, mortgage lending, both construction and permanent, purchase and sale transactions, title insurance, restrictive covenants and homeowner associations. Chris has extensive experience and an active practice representing developers of single and multi-tenant retail development projects, and represents several national retailers in their real estate matters and expansion efforts. He is also actively involved in the residential real estate market, representing developers in a range of development projects, including infill multi-family developments, single family developments, and planned development communities.

In his business and corporate practice, Chris focuses on corporate, business and securities law matters, including general business counseling, mergers and acquisitions, private securities offerings and venture capital financings. He represents clients ranging from individuals to small and large private corporations and other business entities in connection with a wide variety of transactions and business activities. Chris serves as outside general counsel to multiple businesses providing general business counseling and handling general corporate law matters. He has extensive experience in business structuring and formations, serving as lead counsel in merger and acquisition transactions and assets and stock sales, and representing issuers in venture capital and private equity transactions in a variety of industries. Chris also routinely advises businesses and individuals in connection with corporate and shareholder governance matters and disputes.

In 2005, Chris founded Brewer Perotti Martinez-Monfort, P.A., and later merged with the Tampa firm, Gardner Law Group, to form Gardner Brewer Martinez-Monfort in 2010. Prior to founding his own firm, Chris was with Foley & Lardner LLP, practicing in the firm’s Business Law Department and both its Real Estate Practice Group and Transactional & Securities Practice Group. Prior to that, Chris was an associate with Fowler White Gillen Boggs Villareal & Banker, P.A.

Chris has been recognized by Florida Trend magazine as a Legal Elite, and named a Florida Super Lawyer™. He has been awarded the “AV” rating by Martindale-Hubbell, which is the highest designation by the leading lawyer rating service. Chris is also board certified as a Real Estate Law Specialist by The Florida Bar.

He received his undergraduate degree from Emory University (B.A., 1994), and his law degree from the University of Florida College of Law (J.D., 1998, with honors). Chris is a member of The Florida Bar, the Hillsborough County Bar and the American Bar Association.

Chris was born and raised in Tampa and graduated from Jesuit High School. He is on the Board of Directors of the University Club, is a member of the Tampa Yacht & Country Club and Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla. He is also active in several other Bay Area civic, charitable and social organizations. Chris spends his leisure time with his wife and two young daughters, and can often be found running, playing golf or watching sports.
