Robert H. Gidel Jr.

Robert H. Gidel Jr. represents clients in a wide range of complex real estate transactions, with an emphasis on the acquisition, disposition, development, financing and leasing of commercial real estate.

Prior to joining the firm, Rob was an attorney with Holland & Knight LLP. Rob’s experience includes negotiating complex real estate documents on behalf of clients; assisting clients with the purchase, sale and lease of various commercial real estate projects, including hotels, retail, office and industrial sites, and multi-family  projects; advising clients on land use issues involving zoning, entitlements, property rights, and county approvals; representing developers and owners on real estate issues involving violations of exclusive covenants; and representing lender clients in the financing of various real estate related projects.  Rob also serves as outside general counsel for multiple start-up businesses providing general business counseling.

While in law school, Rob interned for the Honorable Catherine Peek McEwen and the Honorable Michael S. Williamson of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Florida.  He also served as an intern for the Honorable Gill S. Freeman in the Complex Business Litigation Division of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit in Miami.  He has also worked in private equity as a partner at Liberty Partners, LLC, where he helped manage investments in private and publicly traded real estate and finance focused operating companies.

In 2015, Rob was appointed by U.S. Senators Bill Nelson and Marco Rubio to serve on the prestigious Florida Federal Judicial Nominating Commission. The Commission selects the finalists for all U.S. District Judge, U.S. Attorney and U.S. Marshal vacancies in Florida and forwards their names to the Senators, who interview each of the finalists and, if neither Senator objects, the names of the finalists are then sent to the President of the United States for final approval.

On a local level, Rob was appointed and currently serves on the Hillsborough County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), Citizens Advisory Committee. He is a founding member of the Board of Directors for The Society of Real Estate Professionals, Inc. and Immediate Past President of the Tampa Bay Bergstrom Council.
